Colt Starting in Virginia Virginia Horse Training

From bareback to bridleless at the Arkansas Horse Fest Trainer Challenge.

Being one of our specialty areas, horses started through Cornerstone Horsemanship have gone on to be competitive in all disciplines, including hunter/jumpers, dressage, fox hunting, reining, cutting, barrel racing, and western pleasure.  All horses need a solid foundation, from the ground work, to being saddled and ridden.  This is key to having a safe, solid, and supple horse.

There is a two month minimum for unstarted horses.  Three to six day programs (approved participants only) for those who need help with those first crucial days starting under saddle.

"Charles Pelham did a wonderful job with my horse Adagio at the 2008 Virginia Equine Extravaganza East Coast Trainers Championship. Without pushing Adagio, Charles had him going walk, trot, canter in both directions, stood on his back cracking a bullwhip, rode him with a tarp over his head, crossed a tarp and stood on a bridge under saddle and pulled a fir tree backwards and forwards...among other feats...  He knows horses and he knows how to start colts. Trainers like Charles are few and far between, we are fortunate to have him here in Virginia."  Liz Booth, Virginia Sport Horses
